New Orleans Last night and last day . . . Jazz, food, and shopping! (September 2018)

It has been weirdly difficult to finish up this trip! Over a year later I’m finally finishing it up with thanks to our pictures to help jog my memory. After saying sayonara to the Bayou Alligators and such we rested and went out on the town for dinner and seafood. We ate at acme oyster house from a lovely walk through the quarter. We got a bit lost and walked back and forth.

We finally made it! I had an oyster shooter. I even had my first grilled oysters. They were good but I prefer raw.

A few night time portrait in dazzling and haunted New Orleans where you can just feel the history!

One last night Stroll past Jackson Quare

we ran all all around Frenchman street to listen to Jazz. But first we got Distracted by the awesome marketplace near Frenchman that is almost entirely artists and small business. I picked out a gorgeous art print of a new Orleans home. It was so hard to pick one. I loved everything he did. He signed it for us. I also ended up sampling some chunky glitter which I was seeing everywhere in NOLA this trip. Fun! Always add glitter when offered the choice!

Queen of the Marketplace!

After shopping for unique souveniers, We stopped the longest at my favorite Club The Spotted Cat.

Chillin like Cool cats at the Cat. Loving us some live jazz.

We partied until our feet hurt and we went back to our digs in Marginy to sleep.

I slept hard that night but Syd woke up and saw the spirit of the Jazz musician we had sensed earlier standing over me watching me sleep. He’s was a totally harmless spirit, but curious about us. He was a tall thin black man. We felt this must have been his apartment at some point in history. We told the manager of the Inn about our haunting and he was very interested. I told him he likes ‘respectful house guests’ but doesn’t like everyone. When we entered as two mediums we introduced ourselves and let the spirit know we appreciated letting us crash at his place. The manager said the spirit has been really active for other guests in not as nice ways and that he has had several guests of the inn leave in the middle of the night demanding refunds! That confirmed a lot!

The last day my French Quarter print dress finally arrived (very late) We took a short cab ride over to the omni to grab it from the concierge desk before leaving the city. I changed into it, we grabbed a very authentic breakfast at a nearby greasy spoon where we also got po boys to go for lunch on the plane. When you visit New Orleans, always get po boys to go for the plane!

We also did a fun little shoot in Marginy of the dress around the gorgeous and bright houses. This was my favorite. The wind actually kicked up and blew my dress up. I don’t know if it’s the light or the energy that photographed, but this is how the photo showed up with no retouching. I like to think it’s the city sending good vibes through my heart chakra recognizing the love we have for her.

New Orleans Dancing with my Heart
Our final goodbye to the Omni!
Syd thanking the guardians of the Omni hotel

We said our goodbyes to the city and headed back to Los Angeles.

Thank You 300 year old New Orleans for a perfect trip. What a way for Syd to ring in his 50th birthday! A milestone year for you both!
