Syd and I (Meg) went to San Diego last Weekend (The first weekend of March 2019) Syd had been there numerous times, and it was my first time ever.
After our awesome stay at the Omni Hotels in New Orleans I signed up for their loyalty program. It was very serendipitous that Syd chose the Omni San Diego because the 5K that he ran over the weekend was literally attached to it via a skywalk! What luck! AmIRight? And he didn’t even know! This is one of the many many times being psychic has paid off on our travels.
The front desk was so nice. I asked for a high up floor with a view. We got an awesome room on the 19th floor! This was our view!

It was a very fast trip! We could only really choose one larger thing to do. My friends’ on facebook composed this list of suggestions:
which I will be adding soon. . . sorry!
We were tired/Hungry, so we decided to get dinner. I wanted fancy seafood. The concierge sent us to Oceanaire. It was impressively good. They also made a ton of accommodations for Syd, like not cooking in butter and giving him really healthfully prepared chicken with asparagus since he was running soon and he’s a clean eater. I opted for the surf and turf which was beautiful!

I ended up joining their rewards program for Landry’s Select Club. I’m a sucker for a good deal. It’s a $25 fee for the year, but you get discounts year round and $25 back on your birthday. So pretty much it pays for itself!
Syd ran the 5K on day 2. I couldn’t sleep for some reason. I woke up early and decided to Surprise Syd at the finish line. He couldn’t hear me yelling for him but I did get a sweet slo-mo video of him crossing the finish line. Thanks new iPhone xr. Worth every penny.
It mostly is chain restaurants and such, but you never know when you’ll be starving on Santa Monica Pier, or in a tiny town. So I got it. You earn points towards rewards at dining and very select hotels. We are slowly learning how to get deals and be VIP everywhere as a couple because why not! Life is meant to be enjoyed and why not be Savvy while you’re at it?
We went back after the race to chill, watch movies, and pack before checkout. The beds at the Omni are glorious. Like a big fluffy cloud. I love the robes too! Can you tell?

I ordered us breakfast for room service. This lasted us for hours! We’ve gotten used to intermittent fasting, so this lasted us till dinner time! Then we had to choose our own adventure. . .
We decided to Go to the San Diego Safari Park for our little day trip before driving home to the Pasadena area. But since this blog is so loooong check out that trip in the next blog post devoted to that amazing place! Safari time! Check out the next post about that!
